The Fort Stephenson House is a HUD Assisted Section 8 Project which provides a
subsidy for affordable rent. This is also known as a Section 8 Substantial Rehab as defined in Regulation 24 CFR, part 881, Statute 42 U.S.C. 1437(f)(b); Section 8(b) of the United States Housing Act of 1937, as in effect before October 1, 1983.

Title VIII of the Civil Rights Act, 42 U.S.C. 3601 - The Fair Housing Act prohibits discrimination in housing on the basis of race, color, religion, sex, disability, familial status, or national origin.
